IFI Primary Schools: Outreach

The International Fund for Ireland has awarded The Model funding to engage primary schools in a three-year cross-border visual arts programme. Connecting with primary schools both in Sligo and North of the border, The Model hosted a series of workshops in painting, drawing, collage, performance and mixed media. The workshops took place in the schools and at The Model.

Schools involved in this programme are:
Masterson Church of Ireland School, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim
St. Endas National School, Carraroe, Co. Sligo
Carbury Church of Ireland School, Sligo
St. Ninnidhs Primary School, Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh

The workshops focused on some of the magical themes in the exhibitions “Angelology”: http://themodel.ie/exhibitions/ilya-and-emilia-kabakov, a romantic exhibition about angels by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov and the colourful characters and clowns depicted in the paintings of Jack B Yeats in The Outsider exhibition.
