Launch of Dermot Healy’s new novel: Long Time, No See
Free / The Model is delighted to invite you to the launch of Dermot Healy’s much anticipated novel, ‘Long Time, No See’ on Sunday 03 April at 5pm in the intimate surroundings of The Model’s Atrium.
Relax and unwind in the presence of one of Ireland’s greatest contemporary writers and present member of Aosdána, as he reads excerpts and discusses the processes involved in creating this fantastic new work, which has taken Healy eleven years to complete.
Set in contemporary Ireland, ‘Long Time, No See’ accurately portrays a world with an unchanging landscape and timeless values but which finds itself beset by twenty-first century realities, a sentiment that we can all relate to in this ever-changing world.
Do not miss this opportunity to spend an evening with one of the foremost authors, playwrights and poets in Ireland – it’s guaranteed to be a very special evening.
At 6.15pm there will be a special screening of the beautifully made RTE Arts Lives documentary The Writing in the Sky about Dermot Healy his place, his horse and his dog, and of 3,000 migrating barnacle geese.
“I think of Dermot Healy as the heir to Patrick Kavanagh” - Seamus Heaney
