Young Model: This Summer
Are you interested in art, film, music and technology? Are you between the ages of 14-20yrs? If so this Summer Young Model are as busy as ever and looking for new members.
Jun 18 to 22
Young Model take on the mammoth challenge of painting the entire hoarding beside the entrance of the Model on Connaughton Road.
The moral will be loosely based on Yeats’s Birthday (13th June) and the 400th Anniversary of Sligo mythology.
Of course Young Model will be trending up Yeats to look the part in 2012 by giving him a new look. Working with mural artist Marian Noone, Young Model will work on the mural the following days Jun 18 to 22 from 11am-4pm each day. Last year Dublin Contemporary this year eva International, curated by Annie Fletcher in collaboration with Limerick City Gallery, Young Model have been invited to visit and review the exhibition After the Future this summer.
Young Model will initiate a platform for visitors to leave a critical comment about After the Future. On the day the group will pose questions to the public and capture their reaction on video. Young Model will also have an opportunity to meet the Director and some of the artists involved in this years exhibition plus workshops designed by the team at eva. Can’t wait!
On going projects
Young Model also interview artists on an ongoing bases. Interviews to date include Sean McSweeney, Nick Miller, Dorothy Cross: to mention a few. Last week they interviewed the curator of All Humans Do Aoife Tunney, which was the last contemporary exhibition at the Model. Later in the month they will interview artist in residence Carsten Fock. Young Model will have an opportunity to interview a number of artists, musicians and comedians over the summer months and beyond.
To date Young Model member Laura Gaynor has interviewed the following comedians who performed at the Model, David McSavage, Ardal O’ Hanlon, John Colleary, Jarlath Regan. Laura’s interviews are available to view on her Craic in the Box Channel
