Lightbox Animation Festival

Welcome to Lightbox, a new film festival where the focus is on Animation.

We’re bringing the wonderful Darklight programme of innovative short animation to Sligo, as well as showing feature films and programmes which focus on particular animators and an exciting one off event by group Synth Eastwood

This year Lightbox profiles the work of hugely successful Irish animation company Cartoon Saloon , producers of Oscar®-nominated The Secret of Kells.

We also look at the work of Jimmy Murikami , a founding father of Irish animation with a new documentary about his life and a rare screening of his 1986 cold war feature film When the Wind Blows With family-friendly programmes as well as more challenging fare, alongside industry events, we hope this year’s Lightbox will be the first of many.

Throughout the weekend we shall also be screening a number of great animations suitable for all the family, check out Lightbox for Kids

€15 Day Pass (entry to all events for day specified)
€25 Weekend Pass (entry to all events for weekend)
€50 Family Weekend Pass for two adults and two children

Individual tickets can also be purchased for features (adults €7, children €5), and for the Synth Eastwood performance (€10)
