Declan O’Rourke, an Irish singer and songwriter, has been working the music circuit in Ireland for over three-quarters of a decade. But with a growing reputation as a songwriter, drawing critical comparisons with the likes of Leonard Cohen and Rufus Wainwright, and with the recent release of his critically acclaimed, self-released album MAG PAI ZAI – which managed to top the success of his first two albums, holding its own in the Irish top 10 for four consecutive weeks – O’Rourke is gladly shaking off the spurious title of the “best kept secret” amongst Irish musicians.

‘A Little Something,’ the album’s debut single, received much airplay, climbing to the no. 2 spot in the Today FM Top 40. Both singles released to date, ‘A Little Something,’ and ‘Time Machine’ were Today FM Single of the Week. Declan recently performed ‘A Little Something’ and ‘Galileo,’ from his debut album, at the BBC Last Night of the Proms with the Ulster Orchestra in Bangor. ‘A Little Something’ was recorded by Swedish pop sensation Peter Jöback for his album ‘East Side Stories,’ which was a top-5 hit in Sweden and Norway. ‘Galileo (Someone Like You),’ Declan’s debut single from ‘Since Kyabram,’ has been recorded by Josh Groban, Eddi Reader, The Celtic Tenors, Paul Byrom, Mary Byrne amongst others, and performed by Paul Weller. Declan performed ‘Galileo’ at the opening ceremony of the Solheim Cup in Septmeber 2011.
