Gracelands 2011 SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Gracelands 2011 Substance Abuse explores the idea of altered consciousness, considering how the capacities and functions of material (substance) are stretched and reconfigured in the process of making artworks.

It also looks at how the substance of an argument or idea can be represented or interpreted to prioritise understanding over knowing.

Beginning at 5pm with a poetry reading performance by Scoli Acosta on the shore of Lough Gill, the programme continues at the site of the Mimetic house with a presentation of Chorspiel by Ulla von Brandenburg. This work is performed by a choir conducted by Joachim Saxenborn with actors Dan Reardon, Lauren Larkin, Bush Mourkarzel, Sarah Jane Scaife & Janyce Condon.
