Soul Burgers in Concert
Spoken Word and Music: Soul Burgers in Concert are a poet and piper duet based on a recovery story told in verse by Christina Reihill. Described by Marian Keyes as “The Emily Dickinson of Addiction” and Peter Sheridan as “Soul Burgers gets under the skin and stays there”.
The performance, features the poet telling her story of addiction and recovery, accompanied by the haunting melodies of renowned Irish Uillean Pipes player Eoin O’Cionnaith.
Soul Burgers live is the stage adaptation and lyrical narrative of her critically acclaimed book, a book that is inspiring urban recovery projects in Ireland. It is her acclaimed odyssey in verse telling her story of a ten-year journey from breakdown to breakthrough from drug and alcohol addiction. The book was launched at the Irish Museum of Modern Art last year and is sponsored by The Rutland Centre. Her story is raw, and incredibly touching.
