Originally a duo composed of guitarists Donal Gunne and Pearse Feeney, Túcan is now a four-piece outfit with the added fat bass lines of Keith Kelly and thumping drums of Paul Wehrly. The expansion to a four-piece band has added another dimension to the energetic play of the acoustic instrumentalists Gunne and Feeney. They are one of the most exciting Irish bands on the live scene in Ireland with an explosive show that spell-binds audiences leaving them gasping for breath.
Following the huge success of Túcan’s “Factory Sessions” videos, the Daft Punk and Prodigy covers which took youtube and facebook by storm and catapulted the band, temporarily, as “most popular Irish music group”- the band have been working on a new album and entirely new live show which will debut as part of The Model’s Lúnasa programme. We can look forward to a new sound accompanied by a visual show by this innovative ground breaking Sligo based band. “We have been playing around with some different instruments so it will be broader sonically than the last album. It will be less latin influenced and more like acoustic post-rock with some funky grooves. Our plan is to invite a few musical friends into the recording so you can expect a few surprises ranging from brass to beats to, dare I say it, even vocals… “ (Donal Gunne –Túcan)
