Frame the Future

Mon. 30 Sep. – Fri. 29 Nov. 2024

The Model has commissioned one of Ireland’s leading socially-engaged artists Andy Parsons as Artist-In-Residence in Carbury National School this autumn. He will capture the life of the school throughout his residency, making a new body of work. Original artworks from The Niland Collection will be on display in the school throughout the duration of the residency providing a slow seeing immersive experience for pupils and staff. The artworks are framed in a bespoke viewing gallery, especially created for the project, which will be activated through a series of workshops by artist Celeen Mahé.

This is a unique opportunity for pupils, staff and the school community to access and respond to the collection first hand in a slow-immersive manner, taking time to engage with the works as part of daily school life. Carbury National School has a unique connection with The Model, as this was where the school first started out in 1863, before moving to the a new site across the road on the grounds of the Grammar School in 1977. This is a multi-generational story as former staff at Carbury school and their parents attended The Model back in the old days.
