Informal Music Afternoons are a series of monthly events, presented in partnership with Sligo Baroque Orchestra, where an eclectic mix of music is performed in a welcoming format in The Model’s Atrium space. The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.
The December IMA promises to be an eclectic mix with Milo Cummins (bassoon) and Merlin Cummins (piano) giving the premiere performance of Emma Purcell's ‘Tom and Jerry's Ragtime Scherzo’, Drumcliffe Children's Choir will perform a selection of vocal music, and Sligo Baroque Orchestra will perform works by Handel, Telemann, Isabella Leonarda, and Giovanni Benedetti Platti.
Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites. The concerts start at 1pm, but we recommend coming at 12:30pm so you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the wonderful café prior.
