Informal Music Afternoon in May

Sun. 4 May 2025, 1 – 3pm
€8pp, children go free

In May, Sligo Baroque Orchestra will be joined by Clarinettist Cathal Roche in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A-major, K.622.

Young virtuoso musicians Lenny Chen (piano) and Athenais Selve (violin), both just 14 years of age, perform the 1st movement of Beethoven: Violin Sonata no.5 “Spring”. And to complete the Mozart theme Lenny will play Sonata K.311.

And we’ll be joined by well-known jazz greats Seamus Blake (saxophone) and Bill Carrothers (piano).

Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites. The concerts start at 1pm, but we recommend coming at 12.30pm so you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the wonderful café prior.

About the IMA

Informal Music Afternoons are a series of monthly events, presented in partnership with Sligo Baroque Orchestra, where an eclectic mix of music is performed in a welcoming format in The Model’s Atrium space. The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.
