The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.
Andreea Banciu, Viola / Aileen Cahill, Piano / Sligo Baroque Orchestra / Clara Tracey, Singer-Songwriter
We are honoured to welcome back RTE Con Tempo's violist Andreea Banciu and Sligo born pianist Aileen Cahill. They have just recorded an album, and will play for us music by two female composers, the Sonata for Viola and Piano by Elizabeth Maconchy, and the Phantasy for Viola and Piano by Ina Boyle.
Born in Fermanagh and based in Belfast, Clara Tracey grew up in a musical and theatrical household, falling in love with the piano at an early age. She discovered her passion for writing songs in France, where she lived for a decade; her earliest solo performances took place in intimate Parisian jazz cafes and the French language still inspires and permeates her sound.
Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites.
