This exhibition examines the influence of Sligo and the West on the development of Yeats’ creative practice. Having spent his childhood in Sligo town in the care of his grandparents and extended family, Jack Yeats was deeply inspired by the people and landscape of the area. This exhibition will reflect that interest in place throughout the arc of his artistic practice, from his earliest documented oil painting completed in 1897, to the expressive and emotive visions of his later years, the setting of which is always unmistakably Sligo.

The exhibition is specially curated with physical distancing in mind, and will allow the viewer to explore each work, or group of works, at a safe distance from other audience members.
