As part of National Heritage Week 2024, The Model, Home of The Niland Collection, invites you to a unique, free guided tour that explores the connections between art, community and heritage. This tour focuses on select works from The Niland Collection and other loaned pieces, currently featured in our exhibition The Wandering Gaze in The Niland Gallery. These works resonate with the theme “Connections, Routes, and Networks,” offering rich insights into how art reflects and shapes cultural narratives.
Led by a member of The Model’s staff, the tour will interweave the cultural and historical significance of the artworks, illustrating their links between past and present, and between local and global perspectives. From traditional masterpieces to contemporary interpretations, discover how art connects us to our heritage and to one another.
This event is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all, whether you’re an art enthusiast or new to heritage. It’s a perfect opportunity to engage with Sligo’s rich cultural tapestry in a meaningful and thought-provoking way.
