The Model's public programme connects with its diverse audiences through socially-engaged art projects, where thought-provoking artistic processes are equally as relevant as artistic outcomes. Our projects are a catalyst for experimentation, collaboration and thoughtful dialogue, where audiences are invited to deepen their relationship and understanding of art. The Model aims to strengthen cultural debate, locally and nationally, of diverse approaches to art practice, both in community and public contexts.
Sligo Global Kitchen
Sligo Global Kitchen is a multi-cultural community art project which uses the social relations of food and art to engage Sligo's diverse communities. The concept is based on the principle of hospitality and is a gesture of solidarity from people living in direct provision and subsequent Irish residents and refugees in Ireland. Sligo Global Kitchen presents opportunities to link local resources with local needs and is an open invitation to anyone interested in food and multi-cultural themes. The communal table at the heart of Global Kitchen is an exciting space for enriching Sligo's cultural life.
Sligo Global Kitchen is supported by The Model and The Community Foundation for Ireland.
