Michael D. Higgins TD will be the guest of honour at The Model for a public welcome reception on Friday, February 18 from 4.30 – 6pm .

Former Minister for Arts, Culture, and the Gaeltacht, and current Labour president, Michael has also had a career as a poet, author and broadcaster. He has contributed widely to political and philosophical journals on many subjects including Ideology, The Sociology of Literature, Clientism in Politics, Regionalism and The Politics of the Media.

As a enthusiastic supporter for the arts and The Model itself, Michael was Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when The Model was allocated €3m of funding in 1997.

The Model is delighted to welcome Michael to the recently reopened building. His visit marks an occasion to emphasise the critical role for arts and culture in developing Ireland’s future. The reception will include light refreshments and everyone is welcome to attend.
